Hi there! I'm Chen Yang, an undergraduate student at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, majoring in Electronic & Computer Engineering.

My research interests primarily focus on robotics. I am actively exploring various areas of robotics, including using learning-based methods to control robots and building fantastic robotic systems. In addition, I am also interested in reinforcement learning and deep learning algorithms.

Research Projects

Robotics RL

Humanoid Robot Locomotion Control via Reinforcement Learning

Developing efficient reinforcement learning algorithms enabling humanoid robots to walk on complex terrains. Conducted simulations using IsaacLab, optimized observation space and reward design, and implemented a Learn-to-Teach framework using rsl_rl, achieving promising results in simulation environments.

Smart Stop Snoring Pillow

Developed a pneumatic robotic pillow that achieves non-invasive snoring mitigation by precisely controlling balloon height using Poiseuille-based flow modeling and dual barometers instead of a flow meter. Leveraging only the built-in pressure sensors, the system extracts breathing and heart-rate signals via frequency analysis and uses a Transformer–CNN multi-task network to jointly recognize posture, snoring, and apnea events for closed-loop sleep intervention.

Building Load Forecasting with LSTM-T-KAN

Proposed LSTM-T-KAN, a dual-branch framework that combines LSTM for temporal modeling with Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks for nonlinear correction, using multi-source features (temporal, environmental, statistical and time-frequency) to achieve accurate and interpretable multiscale building load forecasting on real-world office building data.

Status: Submitted to IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (under review, second author)
